Project #4: Directional Dominance

IMG_4340

Diverse lines placed within the composition produce movement, unity, and visual flow. This creates a directional dominance pointing the focus point. Using repetition of lines, such as verticals, diagonals, and curves is evident in the creation of the directional conflict between them without losing the principal direction.

The range of value marked of dots with different thickness makes the objects overlap creating harmony and union between them. Constructing different textures and dimensions, helps keep the viewer’s eyes within the variance in thickness offers depth.

Thanks to the void between lines and dots this creates the various implied lines making perfect circles and triangles. The viewer is given the opportunity to see both the circle and the triangle patterns demonstrate compressed and expanded space.

Even the composition is integral, the box lines can distract the viewer’s eyes from the triangle and circle patterns. However, the artwork is keeping a strong visual flow.
